Trek Summary

Darwa Top/Pass Trek links Dodital Lake to Yamunotri Valley. A short walk leads us to Darwa Top, the trek’s highest point. Swargarohini, Banderpunch, Draupadi ka Danda, Deonli, and Srikantha are stunning from here. Dodital Darwa Pass Trek in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India, is a unique experience.

It begins at Agoda and climbs 6 km to Manjhi through thick trees and lovely vistas. Continue to the stunning Dodital, 10,850 feet above sea level. Dodital, named after the local trout word “Dodi,” is a peaceful and enigmatic lake. It houses one of the rare Himalayan trout—Dodital, surrounded by deodar trees and springs from the Asi Ganga River.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Agoda

Driving from Dehradun to Agoda takes 7–8 hours and is picturesque. Travel through Uttarakhand’s beautiful scenery to Agoda, a charming natural village.

Day 2: Trek from to Agoda to Manjhi

Due to the lack of water along the 5-kilometre trek from Agoda village to Manjhi, start your day with a healthy breakfast and adequate water. Local language signs guide you on the Dodital Trek Trail. Mud and boulders steepen the path.

Take 20-30 minutes to reach Dharkot. The last 5 miles to Manjhi are level through a lovely rhododendron woodland. A gorgeous campsite, shops, and motels in oak trees await you in Manjhi. Admire Dayara’s majestic peak.

Day 3: Manjhi to Dodital

Today, it is an easy hike from Manjhi to Dodital; the path crosses woodlands. Look for bright Monal birds. The Himalayas are visible from an old temple at the top. The lush trees and Darwa meadow surround Dodital Lake, a beautiful lake.

You can stay in a lakeside guesthouse, cabin, or tent. Green oak, pine, and rhododendron trees border Darwa meadow and a large valley around the lake. Small Darwa meadow streams fill the lake. Finish the day with a Ganesha temple devotion.

Day 4: Rest Day at Dodital

Darwa Top is 13,600 feet high in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas. As a popular trekking location, Darwa Top requires thorough acclimatisation, especially for those unfamiliar with high altitudes.

Rest for the day at Dodital Lake to acclimatise to the altitude. You may have altitude sickness symptoms such as headache, nausea, and exhaustion. These symptoms are usually modest and last a few hours.

Day 5: Dodital to Darwa Top to Seema Trek

Start early for a long day. Hike Darwa Top or camp near Gujjar villages in Seema. Unpredictable weather. Follow Dodital’s edge trail—a steep, stream-lined climb. Rest at a boulder-and-dead tree opening. The final climb to pass is short and sharp. Peak views from Darwa Top are stunning. Enter Seema, a lush rhododendron valley.

Day 6: Seema to Hanuman Chatti via Kandoli and HC to Dehradun trek

A straightforward 4,100-foot drop awaits today. The route has water and views. After a calm morning, visit Kundola meadow. A well-defined trail winds through trees. Prepare lunch in Kundola, a nice green spot. Continue through oak and bamboo forests to Nisu.

Driving to Dehradun from Yamunotri is your choice. You can return to Hanuman Chatti or stay at Yamunotri to walk a difficult climb to Saptarishi Kund, the Yamuna River’s source.
