Trek Summary

Walk to  Sahastra Tal Satling Base Camp, commonly known as “the lake of the gods,” and the seven-lake trip. Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district has it. West and east of the trek are the Bhagirathi and Bhilangana valleys, which surround it. The Indian subcontinent has both valleys.

North of this lake is the high Kush Kalyan Plateau. Any avid trekker should visit Uttarakhand to see lush meadows, wild animals, and flora, as well as Jaonli, Srikanth, and other high Himalayan peaks. Hikers and vacationers rarely frequent this area.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Silla village via Uttarkashi

180 KM | 8-9 HOURS | Homestay / Camping Site

Your Sahastar Satling trek begins with a scenic drive from Dehradun to Silla village. The drive is roughly 180 kilometers and takes approximately 8-9 hours, depending on traffic conditions and road stops. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand as you travel through Uttarkashi, a town nestled in the Himalayas and revered by Hindu pilgrims.

Upon reaching Silla village, you’ll be settling into your homestay or campsite for the night. Prepare for an exciting adventure as you embark on the Sahastar Satling trek over the next few days.

Day 2: Trek from Silla to Papuda

6-7 KM | 5-6 HOURS | Camping Site

Day two involves a moderate hike from Silla to Papuda, covering 6 kilometers. Expect to spend 5 to 6 hours on the trail, so be prepared for a scenic journey into the Himalayas.

Day 3: Trek from Papuda to Kush Kalyan

8 KM | 4-5 HOURS | Camping Site

Get ready for a moderately challenging trek today! The trail from Papuda to Kush Kalyan is 8 kilometers long and should take about 4-5 hours to complete. As you ascend, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.

This scenic hike will lead you to your campsite at Kush Kalyan, where you can relax under the stars and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains.

Day 4: Trek from Kush Kalyan to Kyarki

12 KM | 6-7 HOURS | Camping Site

Day 4 brings a longer hike! It’s a 12-kilometer trek from Kush Kalyan to Kyarki, a beautiful meadow even further inside the Himalayas. This trail is moderate to challenging, taking about 6-7 hours. But the amazing mountain views will keep you going! You’ll reach your campsite at Kyarki, where you can relax and enjoy another starry night.

Day 5: Trek from Kyarki to Pari Tal

10 KM | 7-8 HOURS | Camping Site

Day 5 is another day for trekking! Get ready for a 10-kilometer journey from Kyarki to Pari Tal. Pari Tal is a stunning lake nestled even deeper in the Himalayas. This trek is considered moderate to challenging and should take about 7-8 hours to complete.

Enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you make your way to your campsite at Pari Tal, where you can set up camp and enjoy the serenity of the mountains and the lake.

Day 6: Trek from Pari Tal to Sahastra Tal | Return Lamb Tal Pandav Sera, Dharamshala

14 KM | 7-8 HOURS

Start your day with a trek from Pari Tal to Sahastra Tal, a picturesque lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. This moderate 4-kilometer trail should take approximately 2-3 hours to complete. Along the way, you’ll be mesmerized by the stunning views of the Himalayas.

Continue your adventure with a trek from Sahastra Tal to Lamb Tal, another beautiful lake nestled amidst the mountains. This 5-kilometer trail is relatively easy and should take about 3 hours to complete. Take in the breathtaking scenery as you make your way to Lamb Tal.

Embark on a short trek from Lamb Tal to Pandav Sera, a sacred site believed to be the resting place of the Pandavas from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. This 3-kilometer trail is easy and should take about 1.5 hours to complete. Enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings as you reach Pandav Sera.

Day 7: Trek from Dharamshala, Pandav Sera to Kush Kalyan

14 KM | 7-8 HOURS

Get ready for a challenging trek back towards Kush Kalyan. Today’s journey covers 14 kilometers and is estimated to take 7-8 hours. While it retraces some steps from your earlier journey, the descent might feel different compared to the ascent. Enjoy the mountain views one last time as you make your way back to the familiar campsite at Kush Kalyan.

Day 8: Trek from Kush Kalyan to Sila Village

16 KM | 7-8 HOURS

Today’s moderate trek takes you 16 kilometers back to Silla village from Kush Kalyan. Expect a 7-8 hour journey, so be prepared for a long day on the trail. Enjoy the beautiful Himalayan landscapes one last time as you wrap up your incredible adventure on the Sahastar Satling Trek

Day 9: Drive from Silla to Dehradun

180 KM | 8-9 HOURS

Enjoy a scenic drive back to Dehradun from Silla village, marking the conclusion of your unforgettable Sahastar Satling Trek. Take in the final glimpses of the majestic Himalayas as you reminisce about the breathtaking landscapes, challenging hikes, and tranquil campsites you experienced over the past days. Dehradun awaits your return, offering a chance to relax and reflect on your incredible Himalayan adventure.
